Personal History
Tracey Nolte, a native
Texan, born in San Antonio, moved to Houston at age 2.
Tracey Nolte resided for over 30 years in the Bayou
City.
Her father
was the biggest influence launching an interest in all things
technical. She learned her first computer program on a Commodore
64 at age 11. Her father gave her an Atari gaming
console, Commodore 64, a Speak N Spell and a Speak and Math Tutor
game.
During high school, she worked for Radio Shack selling computers
and a new gadget called a "cell phone". During this time, Tracey
had several computers
and was interested in
becoming a neurologist, a biomechanical engineer or a career in
nano-technology.
After attending a couple colleges in Houston
(Rice University included), she traveled abroad
to Europe (England, France and Germany) to experience life on a
grander scale. The experience gave her a greater sense of
adventure and exploration.
After returning from abroad, she began a career as an administrator for an
attorney, then later worked for engineers at
Fugro. This is
where she discovered her knack for data organization and her new
growing knowledge of Microsoft Access (a NEW database program at
the time).
At Fugro, an entire floor
was dedicated to bound books of all the engineering work they
performed
since the 1950s. Tracey developed
their first virtual library. Taking all recent documents (stored
in Word on their network) and created an Access 2.0 database.
The database contained a listing of each project
with a link to the electronic file
located on their network. She created a search feature to
locate those electronic files within the database. The
database was enhanced many times and saved the company thousands
of dollars by providing a relevant search program for their past
engineering projects.
Next, she worked for
Ernst and Young's management consulting
business. Specifically, for a E&Y partner, to
help him sell a new application called
"SAP R3" to Shell Dutch Oil. After much work on this endeavor,
Shell bought the application and the partner was promoted to
working with the implementation team in Singapore. Tracey Nolte
was ready for the next challenge
and took a job working for a company called EDS (Electronic Data
System).
EDS assigned her to various clients such as ExxonMobil, Texaco,
Chevron, Continental Airlines, FMC and Marathon Oil. After 7
years of solid experience in
IT server, project management, web implementation, help desk
services, service level reporting and account management. She
was offered a management role
from a client called
FMC through their newly hired IT company
called Siemens. After managing the inventory, IT help desk and
invoicing, she decided to
look for a job doing what she really loved to do in her spare
time.... graphic design, databases and web design/development.
During this time, she traveled across the United States, Egypt,
Europe, and Israel.
In April 2005, Tracey Nolte moved to Dallas to accept an offer
from one of the largest homebuilders, Centex Homes. She
implemented the intranet SharePoint environment
which is accessed by over 7,000 employees daily. In addition,
she manages and supports the domains, public internet site and
web analytics.
